To sail on the waterways, a passenger vessel must have a subscription. More information about the regulations and rates can be found here. You must purchase this subscription yourself via this website. The following steps must be taken for this:
Create an account
You need to create an account on VisuRIS.be with the profile "skipper". The procedure to create an account is described here. Keep your VAT or company number near ou. After all, you need this for entering the billing data (enter VAT and company number without dots). You will then have to confirm your registration by email.
To purchase your subscription as quickly as possible, it is recommended to skip the step for registering your vessel when creating an account.
If you already have an account, you may need to complete the details of your organization for correct invoicing. To do this, go to "my RIS" and then "My organization". of ondernemingsnummer
Vessel registration
Via "my RIS" and "my Ships" you can register one or more vessels and link them to your account/organization. This is done by entering a registration number and the name of the vessel. To be able to buy a subscription, the vessel must be registered as a commercial vessel.
An employee of De Vlaamse Waterweg nv will then check and confirm this application. You will receive an email when this is done.
If the details of your ship are not yet known in VisuRIS, you will be asked to enter the full set of information.
This step only needs to be done once. Once you have an account and the vessel is linked to your account, it is no longer necessary to go through this step and you can simply purchase your subscription.
Purchase of the subscriptions
To purchase your subscription, you must log in to VisuRIS - My ships. There you will find an overview of the ships that are linked to your account.
Via the button "purchase passenger shipping permit" you will be taken to the page where you can complete the purchase of your season ticket.
The details of the vessel have already been entered and you only need to indicate the period for which you wish to purchase a permit.
It is also possible to change the start date of the permit (these are only set for one season). If you have already sailed without a subscription, you will be asked to regularize this trip, in which case it is also possible to set the start date in the past.
After you have chosen the right period you will be redirected to the shopping cart. There you can then complete your order and pay electronically. It is possible to pay online or by bank transfer. If you choose the bank transfer, it is extremely important to follow the payment instructions as indicated. Keep in mind that the subscription is only valid when the money has been received by De Vlaamse Waterweg nv (via the payment provider). Via bank transfer, the receipt of your payment can take a few days.
You will receive a confirmation of your subscription by email (after receipt of your payment) and it is also possible to download a copy. You will receive the invoice for this subscription a few days later via the specified email address.
In addition to the subscription, you also need a sailing permit for every trip. You can obtain this via the reception office or on the basis of an electronic notification.
